Centre revamps existing compassionate appointment scheme for Gramin Dak Sevak

Centre has revamped the existing compassionate appointment scheme offered to the dependent family members of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS). Now, dependent of deceased GDS will get benefit within three months.<br/><br/>Under the revised scheme, any death of a GDS while on engagement will be compensated by a compassionate appointment to a dependent family member irrespective of the circumstances or indigence. Upper age limit of the applicant can also be relaxed wherever necessary. Now, married son living with parents, divorced daughter and daughter in law of the deceased GDS will also get the benefit.<br/><br/>Further to ensure least displacement, it has been decided that compassionate engagement will be offered to the dependent to a GDS post near the place where the family of the deceased resides.<br/><br/>The new scheme will provide greater relief to the members of the family of the deceased GDS who belong to weaker and poorer sections of the society and are thrown into penury and hardship.
