Center has released five crore rupees to Himachal Pradesh government under Post Matric Scholarships scheme to the students belonging to Scheduled Castes for the current financial year.

About 48 lakh students are anticipated to be covered in this finacial year across the country under the scheme.

According to an official release, the Social Justice Ministry has sanctioned over 6700 crore rupees in Eleventh Five Year Plan to cover over 196 lakh beneficiaries.

AIR correspondent reports that the scholarship scheme is a single largest intervention by the Central Government for educational development of Scheduled Caste students in the country.
