Centre releases grant-in-aid for Assam, Mizoram for TSC

The Central Government has released over 8 crore rupees and 41 lakh as grants to Assam and Mizoram to ensure total sanitation that includes doing away with the practice of open defecation in rural areas. <br/> <br/>The Ministry of Rural Development has released grant in aid worth 5 crore rupees 64 lakh to 2 eligible districts of Assam under Total Sanitation Campaign of Central Rural Sanitation Program for the financial year 2009-10. The grant in aid has been released to Rajiv Gandhi Rural Water and Sanitation Mission, Assam an agency executing the works for Rural Sanitation Program in the state.<br/> <br/>The Ministry has also released grant in aid worth over 2 crore rupees 77 lakh to five eligible districts of Mizoram under Total Sanitation Campaign of Central Rural Sanitation Program for the financial year 2009-10. <br/> <br/>The grant in aid has been released to State Water and Sanitation Mission, Mizoram, an agency executing the works for Rural Sanitation Program in the State.<br/>
