The Home Minister Mr P Chidambaram has unveiled the National Disaster Management Guidelines on Incident Response System at a function in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, the Home Minister Mr P Chidambaram said the guidelines will go a long way to streamline the disaster response mechanism throughout the Country. He emphasissed the need for capacity building for a proper response to incidents of disaster. Mr Chidambaram said the government has already put in place a mechanism to bring about a paradigm shift in the management of disasters by developing a holistic, proactive and technology driven strategy under the existing act.The Guidelines on the Incident Response System cover important aspects like making the planning process systematic, Effective management of resources and integrating the response efforts of the community. The guidelines also include effective coordination of the independent agencies involved in planning.
