Government today released a commemorative postal stamp on Dr B R Ambedkar and said it will come out with a coin in his honour. Communications and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad released the stamp in the presence of Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot. The government is celebrating 125th birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar this year. Mr. Gehlot said the coin is to be released in honour of the legendary social reformer and approval from the Finance Ministry has already been received.<br/><br/>Speaking on occasion, Mr Prasad wondered why Bharat Ratna was given to Dr Ambedkar so late after his death. Dr Ambedkar was given the highest civilian award in 1990 whereas he died in 1956.<br/><br/>In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the postage stamp on Dr. Ambedkar is another tribute to the farsighted stalwart's contribution to India.
