Centre rejects Cong's allegations of destabilising non-BJP ruled States

The Centre has rejected the Congress allegations of toppling the elected government in non-BJP ruled States. Countering the allegation of Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge who raised the issue during the zero hour in the Lok Sabha, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, the internal differences within the party leaders of Congress were responsible for the political uncertainty in Uttarakhand and earlier in Arunachal Pradesh. He made it clear that there is no role of either NDA government or the BJP in the present Uttarakhand crisis. Mr. Singh also welcomed the Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan's ruling that no discussion will be taken up as the matter is sub-judice.

He said, the issue of promulgation of President's rule is already listed in both the Houses and the members can speak on the matter when the discussion takes place. Earlier, Mr. Kharge accused the Centre of destabilising the non-BJP ruled States to grab the power. Mr. Kharge demanded the Speaker to allow a discussion on the matter to which she said they have to give first notice on the issue. The Speaker also disallowed the adjournment notices of other members.

The Lok Sabha got off to a stormy start on the first day of Parliament Session today. As soon as the House met for the day, the Congress members raised the issue of Uttarakhand and demanded a discussion suspending the Question Hour. The Speaker said, the members can raise the matter after Question Hour but the members remained unrelenting and trooped into the well. Amidst the sloganeering by the Congress members, the Speaker continued with the proceedings.
