Centre quashes IPS officer Amitabh Thakur's suspension

The U?nion Home Ministry has informed the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court that it has quashed the suspension order of the IPS officer Amitabh Thakur issued by the Uttar Pradesh government on October 10, 2015. <br/><br/>It also said that the suspension order stands revoked from October 11, 2015.? ?The information was given by the central government in an affidavit filed in the high court in response to the contempt notice issued on Thakur'?s? petition.? <br/><br/>The affidavit submitted by Mukesh Sawhney, under secretary, union home ministry, says as per section 3(8)(a) of All India Services Discipline and Appeal Rules, Amitabh's suspension stands revoked wef from October 11, 2015, because it was not reviewed? ? and extended within 90 days of suspension. It also says that the state government has been informed about it through a letter dated March 31, 2016.? <br/><br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that ?Amitabh was suspended by the state government on July 13, 2015, on charges of corruption and indiscipline. Incidentally, on July 10, 2015, Amitabh had lodg?e?d a complaint with the police accusing Mulayam Singh Yadav, chief of the ruling Samajwadi Party in the state, of threatening him on phone.
