Centre : Pune blasts planned, coordinated act

The Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today said that the government has taken the yesterday's blast in Pune very seriously. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr Shinde said that the investigations in connection with the blasts are underway and reports are awaited.

On the other hand while talking to reportrs, Home Secretary R.K Singh described the near simultaneous explosions in Pune as a planned and coordinated act. He said that forensic experts from National Investigation Agency,National Security Guards and Central Forensic Science Laboratory reached Pune early this morning and are examining the explosives. He said, since the blasts took place within an area of 500 metres and within a span of 45 minutes which appears to be a coordinated act.

On the otherhand, in Pune, the investigating teams are examining the explosives and various theories behind the four blasts in which one person has injured yesterday. Teams of National Investigation Agency and other central agencies are helping the local police and ATS probing the serial blasts which rocked on the city’s busy J. M. Road area. Maharashtara Home Minister Mr. R.R. Patil reviewed the investigations with top police officials today morning. Leader of the opposition in legislative assembly Mr. Eeknath Khadse visited the blasts sites. He criticized the state government for its inaction on warnings issued by the central governments in this regard. Meanwhile, life in the city is back to normal and people are busy with celebrating Raksha bandhan. Though the tension prevailed however the situation is under control.

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan has also held a meeting of senior officials to step up security for Mumbai in the wake of the recent blasts that rocked the nearby city of Pune. Speaking to media persons in Mumbai, Prithviraj Chavan said that two teams from the National Investigation Agency and bomb disposal experts will be investigating the motive behind the blasts and what device was used to trigger off the blasts in Pune. He also requested people to remain calm and not panic and said that information will be shared whenever there is something concrete.
