Centre providing technical & financial support to Ladakh under NPCDCS as part of National Health Mission: Dr Mansukh Mandaviya

In Ladakh, the incidence and mortality of cancer cases is on rise. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research's Cancer Registry Data, the incidence of cancer cases in Ladakh reported consecutively three years from 2018 at 273, 279 and 286 and 154, 158 and 162 mortality instances during the period.<br />'' <br />''Replying a question of Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal in Lok Sabha, Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said the Centre is providing technical and financial support to Ladakh under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS), as part of National Health Mission (NHM).<br />'' <br />''Minister also said, the treatment for the poor and needy is either free or highly subsidized. Dr Mandaviya said cancer treatment facilities including chemotherapy are available in the District hospitals of Leh and Kargil. He also informed that, under NPCDCS programme, Two District NCD Clinics, Two Cardiac Care Units, Two District Day Care Centres and Five CHC NCD Clinics have been set up in Ladakh.<br />'' <br />''Under the Comprehensive Primary Health Care of NHM, Over 28 thousand persons of above 30 years of age are screened for oral, breast and cervical cancers in Ladakh.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Dr Mandaviya also said, under Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) quality generic medicines at affordable prices. He said three Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been set up in Ladakh UT under the scheme.</span><br />
