Centre proposes to form two smart cities in every state

The government has said that it will soon set up smart cities in the country with all ultramodern facilities like intelligent and intregated transport system, broad band and carbon neutralizers. Addressing a joint press conference in New Delhi with visiting Austrian Federal Minister of Transport, Innovation and Technology Mrs Doris Burse, Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath said that initially two such smart cities will be created in every state under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, JNNURM.
Mr. Nath said that these smart cities will have population of 5 lakhs to 10 lakhs. The cities will have a concept of green building and all other modern facility components for which cooperation of Austrian Institute of Technology will be taken. He said India is looking for the Metro Rail and springs and other components in which Austria has expertise.
