Centre plans to make 2 to 3 % of GDP for health Sector

Centre plans to make available 2 to 3 per cent of total GDP for health services in the country in the coming 2 to 3 years. At present on percent of GDP is being spent health services in the country, Addressing 30th PGI convocation at Chandigarh, the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh made his statement. He said health programme will be successful in the country only when centre and state government will make efforts together. Dr Manmohan Singh said that more health services will be made available in the remotest rural areas of the country. He appealed to the medical fraternity to make the National Rural Health Mission a success. The Prime Minister said that health services in the rural areas will be strengthened be providing infrastructure and more staff. He appealed to the doctors to make medical services available to the weaker sections of the society.
