Centre plans arsenic study centre in Kolkata

Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh has proposed an international centre in Kolkata for studying arsenic contamination in ground water. Addressing a seminar on water, he said that arsenic is the most serious water problem and it is not just restricted to West Bengal, but also spread over entire Gangetic belt and even to Assam. He said if the State Government offers land, the Centre can open an international study centre with extending grant assistance.
