The Central Government is planning to set up the 10th battalion National Disaster Response Force, NRDF, at Mangalagiri for speedy deployment of rescue teams in coastal areas during natural calamities. Guntur district Collector B. Ramanjaneyulu said in Guntur that the NDRF battalion is to be set up in the 50 acres of land behind Panakalaswamy temple hill in Mangalagiri. He said the Centre has already allocated 151.58 crore rupees for setting up of the battalion. He added that a 77 member team from Orissa has been deployed in Vijayawada at present and it will stay till the end of the rainy season.
