In Punjab , to facilitate the general public of Doaba region, the Ministry of External Affairs has launched three Passport Seva Kendras on Monday in Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur, along with one in Amritsar also. In all six such passport seva kendras have been opened in Punjab including two in Ludhiana and Chandigarh , last year.With the launching of Seva Kendras, delivery of passport would be done in just one day if the applicant has fulfilled all the requirements.The Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs, Muktesh Kumar Pardeshi, who inaugurated these seva kendras, said that all the data of the applicant including his physical data, would be collected in bio-meteric mode to avoid any frauds in issuing fake passports. He said this project is part of the National e-governance project under which 77 passport seva Kendras would be launched across the country.
