The Union Cabinet has given a go ahead for amending the Jharkhand Panchayati Raj Act in the state. Speaking to newsmen in New Delhi, the Union Food Processing Minister Mr. Subodh Kant Sahay said that this will pave the way for holding Panchayati Raj polls in the state. Jharkhand is only state where Panchayati elections have not taken place as the issue was caught up in legal wrangles. He said that once the election takes place, the Panchayati leadership will emerge which will help in effective implementation of several central schemes. On Thursday the Parliament gave its seal of approval to the President's rule in Jharkhand with both the Houses adopting statutory resolutions to this effect.
