Centre does not propose to make singing of the national anthem mandatory in all government and aided schools. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Human Resource Development Upendra Kushwaha said, it is up to the states to take necessary action for observance of provisions of the Right to Education Act.<br/><br/>He said the Act provides that the academic authority, while laying down the curriculum and the evaluation procedure will take into consideration conformity with the values enshrined in the Constitution.
