Centre not to extend date of IDS after Sep 30

The Central Government will not extend the date of Income Declaration Scheme (IDS) after 30 September, 2016. Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Shillong, Mr. L.C.Joshi Ranee told media persons at a press conference in Agartala today. He said the Government is very clear on its stand and there is no possibility of extending the deadline of the IDS.<br/> <br/>He urged the people to declare their undisclosed assets and income by the deadline. He added that after 30 September the information regarding the people who would not have declared their income by the date will be identified and strong actions will be taken against them as per the Income Tax Act.<br/> <br/>Income Tax officials also said the government is also launching prosecution. If there is a default on the part of an assessee to disclose the income, prosecutions will be launched against them in every district court in the country and the person may have to face imprisonment of minimum 3 months to maximum 7 yrs, they said.<br/> <br/>Today, a new complex of income tax office at Agartala was inaugurated.
