Centre is considering making it mandatory for all heavy vehicles to have air-conditioned cabins for drivers. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari told Rajya Sabha during question hour, long driving hours in extreme temperatures lead to accidents.<br/><br/>Gadkari said, his ministry is also toying the idea of installing CCTV camera on National Highways to track traffic violations. The Minister said, 726 black spots have been identified across the country, which account for maximum accidents. <br/><br/>Replying to supplementaries, Gadkari said an amount of 11,000 crore rupees has been allocated for realignment of such spots. The minister said, India has a shortage of 22 per cent trained drivers and a drive by his ministry found 30 per cent licences were bogus.
