Centre mulling new Litigation Policy: Moily

Law Minister M Veerappa Moily today said his Ministry was working out a blueprint to implement the National Litigation Policy. As the courts battle 3.5 crore pending cases before them, the government has been identified as the largest litigant. Addressing a seminar in New Delhi, Mr. Moily said there is an urgency to make the government a reluctant litigant. Mr. Moily said the idea is to reduce the pendency levels before 2012 by bringing down the time taken to dispose of cases from the present 15 years to just 3 years.<br/>
