Centre is making all-out efforts to promote and popularize jute and jute-based products. <br/><br/>Inaugurating the National Seminar on Jute Diversification in Kolkata, Minister of State for Textiles, Santosh Kumar Gangwar said, Jute unlike plastic, polythene and other synthetic materials used as carry bags and for packaging, is biodegradable, environment friendly, natural, non-polluting and non-toxic.<br/><br/>The Minister further added that the Textiles ministry has already initiated the process of collaboration with the other Union ministries, banks and State governments to link the jute diversification efforts with 'Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana'. <br/><br/>He said, for the purpose, skill development centres and Jute Diversification project units have been set up and these will be linked with PM's 'Skill India' initiative.
