Centre looking for long term solution to Jallikattu issue: Anil Madhav

Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave has said that government is looking for a long-term solution for Jallikattu issue. Addressing a pres conference in New Delhi, Mr Dave said, the government is trying to resolve the issue in the shortest possible time. On bringing an ordinance, the Minister said Centre has received a proposal from the Tamil Nadu government and it is under consideration. <br/><br/>On a question, the Minister said, the Centre believes that cultural values and sentiments of people of the states should be respected. He said, he will persuade the AIADMK MPs to go back to their state today or tomorrow. <br/> <br/>Earlier, ruling AIADMK MPs met Home Minister Rajnath Singh seeking the Centre's help to allow conduct of Jallikattu. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Paneerselvam had also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi yesterday to seek promulgation of an ordinance to allow Jallikattu in the state. College students and various political outfits have intensified their protests and are demanding the promulgation of an ordnance to allow Jallikattu which has been banned by the Supreme Court.
