Caste based census has been formally launched in far flung village Shankhola in West Tripura on Wednesday. This process paves the way to identify the households living below the poverty line in rural and urban areas of the country. After launching the programme rural development secretary B.K. Sinha said that the entire process will be completed by the end of the current fiscal. He said that the results relating to the identification of poor household will be utilised in the 12th five year plan starting next financial year. The Census is being conducted with the cooperation of various state governments and entire process will help in making targets to be covered under various flagship programmes like MG NAREGA, Indira Awas Yojna and for their better implementation. The Census will cost around three thousand eight hundred crore rupees and Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Registrar General of India are associated with this work.
