Centre today launched a campaign to promote waste management and encourage sanitation in rural areas. <br/><br/>Speaking at a function in New Delhi, Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, the campaign has been started under the National Rural Livelihood Mission which ensures additional income to people in rural areas. <br/><br/>He said, waste management will reduce threat to human health and add economic value as an indirect benefit.<br/><br/>On the occasion, Rural Development Secretary Amarjeet Sinha said, the campaign promotes solid waste management model of Tamil Nadu and liquid waste management model of Telangana. <br/> <br/>He said about 400 villages in eight states have started process of adopting these models.
