The Centre is keen on putting development of roads, communications, irrigation, electricity and housing on fast track in the coming months. Inaugurating the three -day Bharat Nirman-public information campaign at Bapatla in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, Union minister of state for Textiles Panabaka Lakshmi said that Bharat Nirman Programme, one of the flagship programmes of the centre, is engine that is driving development in the country. She informed that so far 2.3 crore households in 1.25 lakh villages had been electrified , 2.24 lakh houses were constructed under Indira Awas Yojana, 65,822 villages in the country have been provided to 70 lakh hectares and 58,627 habitations have been provided drinking water facilities.
