<br/>Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati today said that centre is working on a river interlinking project. Addressing an inaugural function of first Asian Conference on Water and land management in Raipur, the state capital of Chhattisgarh, she said Ken-Betwa river linking project is first of this kind. <br/><br/>She said government is also having discussions on Mahanadi- Godavari linking project. This proposed project will prove to be important for the country. <br/><br/>Union minister said that interlinking of rivers is necessary to fulfill the water and irrigation requirement of different parts of the country.<br/><br/>Uma Bharati said for the development of agriculture and irrigation facilities in the country, we have to make water management a people's movement. <br/>To attain this objective, government has initiated 'Jal- Manthan' program, she said.<br/>
