Centre invites views and suggestions from States to review certain aspects of the Crop Insurance Scheme

<span style="color: #222222;">The Centre has invited views and suggestions from the States to review certain aspects of the Crop Insurance Scheme. Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha, the Minister of State for Agriculture Purushottam Rupala said that, the Government has received several representations from various sections to make the Crop Insurance Scheme voluntary or optional. Presently, the Scheme is mandatory for the farmers to claim the insurance benefit.<br />''<br />'' The Agriculture Ministry wrote to the States seeking their views and suggestions on the conditionality of the Scheme. The Minister however said, the Scheme is mandatory for the ongoing Kharif season. </span><br />
