The Centre has invited ideas from people on the new Institution to replace the Planning Commission. An official release said, a special open forum has been created on the website www.mygov.nic.in for suggestions in this regard.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants the proposed Institution to be capable of catering to the aspirations of 21st century India and strengthens participation of the States.

AIR Correspondent reports that the Prime Minister in his Independence Day speech last week, had said that the Planning Commission is a very old system and it will have to be rejuvenated and changed a lot.

He said that the Commission will be replaced by a new institution with a new structure and direction to lead the country based on creative thinking, public-private partnership,optimum utilization of resources and empower federal structure.

He said that when the Planning Commission was constituted, it was relevant, but now in the changed domestic and global scenario, governments are no longer the Centre of economic activities and the scope of such activities has also broadened.
