Centre intervenes in Manipur blockade

The Centre has said that it is trying to address the problems arising out of the blockade on the national highway leading to Manipur in coordination with the state government. <br/><br/>In a statement, the Home Minister Mr P Chidambaram said that the immediate problem is to ensure that national highways are opened and supplies of goods reach every districts of the state. He urged all sections of the society especially the political parties to support the government’s efforts in this regard. <br/><br/> BJP leader Mr.Prakash Javdekar, who led a three member team to Manipur to take stock of the situation, had met the Home Minister in New Delhi on Friday. <br/><br/> The Home Minister said that the delegation had expressed satisfaction at the meeting with him. He was disappointed by the statement issued by Javdekar afterwards. <br/><br/>Setting the record straight, the Home Minister said that the Manipur government said that the planned visit of NSCN (IM) leader Muivah to the state was not appropriate at this time. He said the Centre is making efforts to deal with the demands of NSCN(IM) and other Naga groups patiently and tactfully.
