Consumer Affairs Minister Ramvilas Pawan today said the centre has revised the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of sugarcane for the sugar season 2015-16 to Rs 230 per quintal. The FRP for the last sugar season was Rs 220 per quintal. In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Mr.Paswan said this decision has been taken on the basis of recommendations of Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) and after consultations with concerned state governments and other stake holders. The minister informed that the crushing for the current sugar season is still going on in many parts of the country. Mr.Paswan said incentive scheme for promotion and marketing of raw sugar production targeted for exports has been extended for current sugar season 2014-15. He said the process for procurement of ethanol has been simplified to smoothen the entire ethanol supply chain. Mr.Pawan said there is no proposal to pay the cane arrears directly to the farmers.
