The Centre has approved Kovvada in Andhra Pradesh to set up six nuclear power reactors. Giving this information in the Rajya Sabha today, Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh said each reactor will have a capacity to produce 1208 megawatt nuclear energy. They will be set up sequentially in technical co-operation with the USA. <br/><br/>The beneficiaries will be the states and union territories in the southern region. Andhra Pradesh would get 50 per cent of the output from the project, he said.
