Centre has adopted a policy to relax rules, for betterment of people residing in Cantonment areas, says Defence Minister

Defense minister Manohar Parrikar has said that the government has adopted a policy to relax rules, if required, for the betterment of people residing in Cantonment areas across the country. <br/><br/>He was speaking with reporters in Pune Today. Mr Parrikar said that in the last few months' encroachment was removed from around 2500 Acres of Defense land in the country. <br/><br/>He assured that in next two years all encroachments on defense properties will be removed. Defense Minister also said that orders have been issued to give additional floor space index, FSI, for the redevelopment of old buildings in cantonment areas. <br/><br/>Mr Parrikar said that all problems related to defense establishments in Pune including expansion of Lohagaon Airport will be solved before December 2016.<br/><br/>Defense Minister today inaugurated new building of Principle Directorate of Defense Estate, Southern Command in Pune. <br/><br/>Defense Minister also laid foundation Stone of proposed Lulla Nagar Fly Over in Pune Today. Union Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Jawadekar was also present on this occasion. <br/><br/>He said that during his tenure as Environment Minister 200 proposals of the defense Ministry were cleared. <br/><br/>Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar today also met family of Flight Lt. Kunal Barpatte in Nigdi near Pune who was navigator on the missing flight of Indian Air Force on way to Port Blair from Chennai.
