The Centre has handed over the enquiry of the killing of youth leader Lafiqul Islam to the CBI. Miscreants killed Lafiqul on 1st of August at Kokrajhar district of Assam. <br/><br/>Official sources said that Minister of State for DoPT Dr. Jitendra Singh has conveyed it to Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal. There was large scale protest in the state following the death of Lafiqul Islam following which the Chief Minister recommended CBI enquiry.<br/><br/>In another development, the leaders of Asom Gana Parishad met President Ram Nath Kovind in New Delhi today. <br/><br/>The party has submitted a memorandum to the President. Asom Gana Parishad has urged to solve flood and erosion problem of the state among other issues.
