Centre for taking appropriate action on Liberhan Commission’s recommendations

The Centre today said that it had asked all state governments, various central government departments, the CBI and others for taking appropriate action on the recommendations made by the Liberhan Commission, which enquired into the demolition of the disputed structure at Ayodhya. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ajay Maken said that in addition to this, the Centre has also been continuously monitoring the progress of certain cases connected with the Ram Janam Bhoomi – Babri Masjid issue in consultation with the CBI. He said that as these cases are sub-judice, it is not possible for the government to lay down a time frame for their conclusion. Mr Maken said these cases relate to unknown Kar Sevaks in the CBI Special Court, Lucknow, against eight accused in the CBI Special Court, Rae Bareili and 47 other cases in the CBI Special Court, Lucknow. The government had tabled the report of the Liberhan Ayodhya Commission of Inquiry along with the Memorandum of Action Taken in both the houses of Parliament in November last year.
