Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said that the Centre is focusing on strengthening the manufacturing sector in rural India to address economic disparities. Speaking at the inauguration of 'Ved Prakash Goyal Room' of Indian Merchants Chamber in Mumbai, Mr. Singh said economy can be strengthened only if manufacturing units get a boost.<br/><br/>Pitching for Swadeshi as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship Make In India initiative, Mr. Singh said in the modern era of globalization, Swadeshi is still important as imitation of foreign economic model could not put the country in the forefront. He said, in this regard, greater contribution from the rural economy is expected to raise gross domestic product (GDP). On price rise, Mr. Singh said that Modi Government has been able to keep wholesale and consumer price indices in check.
