Centre focusing on development of clean technologies in coal mining

The government is focusing on development of clean coal technologies in coal mining in the country. Addressing the valedictory session of International Summit of Coal Asia 2012 in New Delhi, the Coal minister Sriprakash Jaiswal said that the efforts to ensure consistency in quality of coal supplies have helped in augmenting washed coal production for power generation.

Mr. Jaiswal said coal is the main stay of the country energy and our dependence on the same is likely to continue for quite some time in to the future. He emphasized the need for early solutions of various problems facing the coal sector.

He said supplying quality energy at affordable price is a big challenge. The Minister said inclusive growth and equity are the basic principles of development and efforts should culminate in this direction in building the nation
