The Centre has extended the suspension of operations against Dima Halam Daogah, DHD, a militant group operating in North Cachar Hill district of Assam, for six months till the 30th of September. According to an official release, the decision was taken at a tripartite meeting attended by the representatives of the Centre, Assam government and DHD. The suspension of operations has been in force since 2003. AIR correspondent reports, a joint monitoring group headed by Joint Secretary (Northeast) in the ministry of Home Affairs has been constituted to review the implementation of agreed ground rules. The tripartite talks on demands of DHD are continuing. The Centre's interlocutor and former Director of Intelligence Bureau P C Halder has been appointed to negotiate with the outfit. The last tripartite meeting with the outfit was held on 17th December last year to finalise Memorandum of Settlement.
