Centre expresses displeasure on stand of 3 Congress CMs of NE on NSCN -IM accord

The Centre has expressed displeasure on the stand of 3 Congress Chief Ministers of North East on NSCN -IM accord. Talking to media persons in Guwahati on Saturday, Union Home minister for state Kiren Rijiju said that Chief Ministers of Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh have initially welcomed the peace accord but later took a U-turn on the issue. <br/><br/>He said that Chief Ministers are making contradictory statement on the direction of Sonia Gandhi which was not a good sign. He said that sentiments of the North Eastern states will not be hurt due to the peace accord. Earlier, laying the foundation stone of office and residential complex of the NIA at Sonapur in Guwahati he appealed all the militant groups in the North East to shun violence and join the mainstream. <br/><br/>Mr.Rijiju said that Centre has emphasized to strengthen the development process in North East. He said that stress has been given on border development as those people are residing at international border should not feel isolated. Mr. Rijiju said that 10 thousand crore rupees have been announced in the telecommunication sector for the region. <br/><br/>Declaring that the security scenario of the region has improved a lot during past 1 year, he stressed that development and security should go hand to hand. Director General of the NIA along with other senior officials of the centre and the Assam government have attended the program.<br/>
