Centre examining demand to increase FDI in defence

The Centre is examining the demand to increase Foreign Direct Investment in defence. The present cap is 26 percent. Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju said in Bangalore on Wednesday that the government may revisit the issue if it felt appropriate. On future scenario, he said 45,000 crore rupees worth of defence obligations are in various stages of negotiations. He said the field trials of Medium-Multi Role combat aircraft are on on and the commercial bid will be opened and evaluated later.
