The Government has enacted the law to stop the rampant encroachment and construction around the monuments and other sites of archaeological importance. According to an official release, National Monuments Authority will consider No Objection Certificate applications for construction or reconstruction or repair and renovation in prohibited and regulated areas. Minister of Culture Kumari Selja said in New Delhi that steps have also been initiated regarding formulating monument-wise heritage bye-laws.
