Government on Tuesday emphasised on the need for modernisation of signal and telecom system to increase the efficiency of Indian Railways. Minister of State for Railways, E Ahamed said that the advanced system is important to enhance safety and satisfaction of passengers by providing accurate and timely information and runningmore trains. Railway Board Chairman Vivek Sahai added that the Signal and Telecom System is necessary to reduce accidents and improve line capacity. He said that the railways continously thrive towards increasing the efficiency in train operations, lowering equipment failures and developing better satellite based train tracking and information systems.
