Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal has said that Centre is committed to energise every household of the country by 2022 and every household of UP by 2019. <br/><br/>Speaking at a program to launch a pilot project of District Vidyut Abhiyanta in Lucknow, Mr. Goyal said that in just concluded financial year, Centre has electrified 1,313 villages out of total 1,529 unelectrified villages of the state of Uttar Pradesh. <br/><br/>He said that in the country, out of 18,452 unelectrified villages, 7,146 villages have already been energised in last two years so far. Talking to media in Lucknow, he said that the Centre had initially appointed 309 Gramin Vidyut Abhiyanta GVA to propel and monitor the Rural Electrification Program. No their strength is being raised to 1000. <br/><br/>One District Vidyut Abhiyanta is also being appointed in every district who will work as a bridge between any specific area and the union power ministry. <br/><br/>He said that in every district there is a "District Electricity Committee" headed by regional MP, which looks after and monitors the need and performance of the electricity scenario of the place. <br/><br/>Refuting the allegations of biased behavior with UP, Mr. Goyal said that the Centre has allocated Rs 6,946 crore under Deen Dayal Upadhaya Gram Jyoti Yojna and Rs 5,651 crore under integrated electricity development program, which is the highest anywhere in the country. He said that now ample power supply is available at any given time in grid and anybody can purchase power as much as they want.
