The Centre has drafted a model Agricultural Produce Market Committee, APMC legislation ,2017. <br/><br/>Briefing reporters after the meeting of State Ministers of Agriculture Marketing in New Delhi, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said the new model law includes establishment of private market yards, direct purchase of agricultural produce from farmers and promotion of e-trading.<br/><br/>He said,under it, livestock has been included and fruits and vegetables have been excluded from its purview. He said, the new model act has been sent to the States for its implementation.<br/> <br/>Mr Singh said, to double the farmers' income, the government is implementing National Agriculture Marker,E-NAM scheme which provides an online trading portal to farmers to have an access to transparent sale transactions and price discovery. He said, so far 417 markets of 13 States have been integrated with it and by March 2018, the number will be increased to 585. <br/><br/>The Agriculture Minister also informed that over 42 lakh farmers and 89 thousand traders have been registered on the portal which registered a turnover of over 16 thousand crore rupees. On pulses, Mr Singh said, the government has procured 18 lakh tonnes of pulses for buffer stock.
