Center has distributed around 48 lakhs minority scholarships till last months during the current Financial Year under its Pre-matric Scholarship Scheme. It is against the target of 34 lakhs. According to an official release, over 540 crore rupees has been sanctioned by the Minority Affairs Ministry to achieve this target. This Scheme was started in the year 2008 and a cumulative total of over 1.14 crore scholarships have been awarded till last month. Our correspondent reports that the scholarship scheme is for the welfare of minorities students from class one to class tenth.
