The Centre has denied reports that top Maoist leader Kishenji was killed in a fake encounter.

Union Home Secretary R K Singh told reporters in New Delhi yesterday that the gun-battle in which he was killed was genuine.

A joint team of the CRPF and West Bengal Police killed Kishenji alias Mollajulla Koteswar Rao in a gunbattle in a forest in West Bengals' West Midnapore district on the 24th of November.
