Centre denies any pressure to release Union Carbide Chief Warren Anderson

Government has said that the Group of Ministers has been reconstituted on the Bhopal gas tragedy to look into all aspects related to the incident and facts would be presented before the nation. <br/> <br/>Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni sought to play down allegations by senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh that Anderson was helped in escaping from the country. She told news persons nobody is being indicted by anybody in the matter. <br/> <br/>The minister said, whatever communication conclusively proves any point or surmise will be taken up at the appropriate forum. On allegations about the US pressure, she maintained that the union government was under no pressure from anybody and it is working in a transparent manner. <br/> <br/>On the quantum of punishment in the 1984 case, the Minister said there was no denying of the fact that people were agitated over it and that is why the GoM had been reconstituted.<br/> <br/>BJP has asked Congress to clarify on fleeing of the then Union Carbide Chief, Warren Anderson from India after the Bhopal Gas tragedy. The party spokesman, Mr. Prakash Javdekar told reporters in New Delhi that an impartial probe is needed into the circumstances which led to the escape of Anderson from the country after the Bhopal tragedy.<br/> <br/>Criticized for diluting the charges against the accused Union Carbide officials the former Supreme Court Chief Justice A H Ahmadi said he had not committed any impropriety by agreeing to head a multi-million dollar trust set up by the Union Carbide after the gas leak.<br/> <br/>Justice Ahmadi told a TV channel that he had twice asked recently-retired CJI K G Balakrishnan to be relieved him from the trust but had been asked to continue. <br/>
