Earlier this month, Aam Aadmi Party government had announced Commission of Inquiry headed by a retired Judge of Delhi High Court.

Reacting to center's move, AAP said the NDA government's stand again proves that it wants to protect all corrupt officers, political leaders in the scam. In a tweet, party leader Ashutosh asked the Centre to answer why it wants to protect the LG, Shiela Dikshit and officials in the case. He also questioned why the LG did not give permission to investigate the scam despite request by the CBI and the ACB.

A number of officials of previous Shiela Dikshit government are under scanner. The scam came to light in 2012 when ACB found that the Delhi government had suffered a loss of nearly 100 crore rupees in alleged irregularities in awarding contract to operate and maintain inspection and certification of CNG vehicles.
