The Government has decided to set up a new Education Commission to make recommendations for improvements at all levels. In his address to the nation on Independence Day on Monday, the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said that in view of major changes in the educational set up in the country, the Commission needs to consider all aspects in a comprehensive manner.Expressing satisfaction over achievements in the educational field in the last seven years, Dr.Singh said that government has taken concrete steps for improvements in education at all levels. He said that vocational education and skill development have acquired a new importance. He said, after the right to elementary education, the focus is on universalisations of secondary education. ‘
