Centre decides to release 45 lakh tonnes of non-levy sugar

The Centre has decided to release 45 lakh tonnes of non-levy sugar for the 2nd quarter of July to September this year. An official release says, the sugar factories have to deliver the entire quantity of the sweetener within the validity period of the release with the condition that they sell not less than 25 per cent of the quarterly quota in each month of the quarter. Besides this, the government has also released 4.64 lakh tonnes of levy sugar quota for the same period.
