Centre decides to deal decisively with Naxalites

The Centre has decided to deal decisively and resolutely with Naxalites after they spurned the talks' offer.<br/><br/>Breifing reporters after State Chief Ministers meeting in New Delhi last evening, Home Minister P Chidambaram said if that means some kind of battle on the ground be it so.<br/><br/>The Home Minister, however, said that at present there is no proposal to deploy Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, UAVs. He said, the government is proud that Kasab is being tried in an open court and if found guilty will be punished.<br/><br/>Setting the tone for the discussions in the day long conference, Prime Minister urged the States to work in tandem with the Centre to fight the security threats.<br/><br/>Addressing the conference, Dr. Manmohan Singh expressed concern over growing infiltration attempts from across the border since early this year.<br/><br/>He however said that the level of violence has gone down in Jammu and Kashmir in the last two years but hostile groups and elements operating from across the border want to perpetuate terrorism and Jammu and Kashmir has been bearing the brunt of this.<br/><br/>Referring to the left wing extremism, the Prime Minister cautioned that all efforts should be made to ensure people are not alienated and that economic development of tribal areas is taking place.<br/><br/>Dr. Singh said that fake currency notes are being printed and smuggled into the country from across the border and this poses serious problem to the country's economy.<br/><br/>Dr. Manmohan Singh said, the multi-agency Centre is now functioning effectively and expressed hope that this will help in tackling terrorism which poses a grave threat to the unity and integrity of the country.<br/><br/>In his opening remarks, Home Minister P. Chidambram asserted that the Dark Forces of Terrorism, who want forcible annexation of Kashmir will not be allowed to succeed in their designs and they will be defeated decisively.<br/><br/>The Home Minister, expressed concern that the progress on the front has been tardy.<br/><br/>He asked the State Governments to allocate enough budget for recruitment and training of police forces with a focus on specialized branches.<br/><br/>Mr. Chidambaram said that the multi-agencies Centre is already connected with the States and a new hardware is being installed for seamless, secure and round the clock connectivity.
