The Centre has convened a meeting of State governments of Odisha and Chhattisgarh to find ways to resolve the disputes arising out of construction of dams on Mahanadi river by Chhattisgarh. The meeting has been convened on 29th of this month. <br/><br/>Replying to a calling attention motion by BJD leader Bhartruhari Mahtab, minister of state for water resources Sanjeev Balyan said, if both the parties fail to arrive at a consensus on the issue, then a tribunal will be formed to resolve it. <br/><br/>Mr. Balyan, however, said, there is no water problem for Odisha during the Monsoon period due to the construction of dam but its impact during non monsoon period may be studied.<br/><br/>Later, Water resources and Ganga Rejuvenation minister Uma Bharti said, water should not be an issue of discord among states. She said, it should be a means to unite the people. She expressed hope that matter will be resolved.
